Day 01 - Lima

Arrival, reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

Day 02 - Lima

In the morning, city tour of Colonial Lima visiting the Cathedral, located in the Main Square which was rebuilt on the same site from 1555, under the direction of Jesuit priest Juan Rehr after the 1746 earthquake. Both its façade and interior are austere with its remarkable wooden choir stalls, altars and the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, who died in 1541, are to be noted.
Visit the Church of San Francisco, with its convent, museum of colonial art, cloisters and catacombs. Afterwards, panoramic view of the Main Square with the Government Palace, the Municipal Hall, the “Desamparados” Train Station, and finally drive through the old streets with their vice traditional mansions and Moorish style balconies. Continue through the most traditional residential and commercial areas of contemporary Lima, passing by sites of pre-Columbian Civilisations dating back to the beginning of the Christian era. Finally, you will enjoy a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean.
Continue with your visit to the Gold Museum, where you will appreciate a unique and amazing collection of gold objects from many Pre-Hispanic Andean civilisations.
Consisting of many pieces and jewels of worked gold of incalculable value, this private collection has been seen in extraordinary expositions in many of the worlds’ major cities. You will also have the opportunity to see a valuable collection of pre Inca textiles and an exhibition of one of the largest and most interesting of its kind anywhere in the world “weapons of the world”. Day 03 - Lima – Chiclayo

Transfer to the airport to take the flight to the city of Chiclayo. Reception and transfer to the hotel.
In the morning, visit “Tumbas Reales de Sipán Museum”, covering an area of 22 acres in the town of Lambayeque, 10 minutes north of the city of Chiclayo. The appearance of the museum gives a feeling of a flattened pyramid formed by five prisms that are held together by leaning planes, with each prism bearing a replica of the banners found in the Tomb of the Lord of Sipán. Their colours, red and yellow, are similar to those used by the Moches throughout their decorations. Lunch.
Continue to The Pyramids of Túcume, with an area of 220 ha, surrounded by rich agricultural fields. The sacred mountain, known as La Raya or Purgatorio stands in its midst. Because of its size and the quality of its monuments, the Pyramids of Túcume are one of the most important monumental centres of the Region. Its 26 buildings are made of adobe and were intended for different activities. The construction of these buildings started approximately in the late 10th century, and continued for many more centuries.

Day 04 - Chiclayo – Chachapoyas

In the morning, departure to Chillo, with its rivers and Amazonian forest. During the journey (10 hrs. approx), you will appreciate many landscapes.

Day 05 - Chachapoyas

Alter breakfast, departure to Chillo. Visit the colourful funeral buildings of Revash (2 hrs) Chacha culture (XIIth century).
In these 3-floor buildings necklaces ceramics and bones were discovered and thought to be offering to the gods on the death of the people or persons.
Continue to Leymebamba (1 hr.) to visit an amazing collection of pre-Inca mummies recently discovered.
Return to the hotel. (B, L, D).

Day 06 - Kuelap

In the morning, full day visit to the pre-Inca city of Kuelap.
Return at the end of the day and overnight in the hotel. (B, L, D).

In the morning, trek to Macro, built in the XIIth century and constructed from stones and mud. Afternoon free. Overnight in hotel. (B, L, D).

Day 08 - Chachapoyas – Trujillo

After breakfast, transfer to Trujillo, (approx. 10 hrs.). Arrival and transfer to hotel. Overnight. (B).

Day 09 - Trujillo

In the morning, visit to Huaca del Sol y de la Luna: The Huaca del Sol, a pyramid 20m high, according to the tradition was built in only 3 days using 250 000 people and 70 million blocks of adobes. The Huaca de la Luna, located in front of the Huaca del Sol, is smaller. In some of its adobe walls still exist paintings where appears the Ai-Apaek God. Archaeologists have discovered a tomb with more than 40 dead soldiers.
El Brujo one of the most important archaeological complexes on Peru’s north coast. It was built through a lengthy cultural sequence which began in the pre-Ceramic period, some 5 000 years ago. El Brujo consists of three large buildings: the ancient Huaca Prieta, Huaca El Brujo, belonging to the Mochica Culture, and Huaca de Cao Viejo, which features embossed figures and murals.
Lunch in Huanchaco beach, an ancient Chimú port with its colonial church located at the highest point of the port and famous for its ancient pre Inca “Caballitos de Totora”, straw boats which are still used by local fishermen.
In the afternoon, visit Chan Chan, located 4 Km to the north of Trujillo, an ancient city which once housed a population of 50,000, complete with streets, houses, water tanks, pyramids and temples, a great urban centre and now declared a Cultural Patrimony by UNESCO.
Finally, you will visit Huaca Dragon, a temple dedicated to the Rainbow, located 5 km from Trujillo and considered as a ceremonial place by researches and related to the fertility. Its decorations show dancing warriors and the figure of a dragon.
